An advanced school information system that captures detailed student data while handling the school's day-to-day administration.
V-SMIS was built to support a data culture in schools. It handles the information a school needs to run, and in doing so captures detailed, structured data on its students.
The ambition is that such data can be linked to national examination records and to data from higher institutions, for research use: to change policy, to evaluate the impact of educational interventions, and to describe the trajectories students take through their education โ so that meaningful support can be given at an early stage rather than after the fact.
It runs alongside a campaign on data use in research, awareness of data privacy, and the development of policy on data protection and governance, with stakeholders including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the Federal Supreme Court.
