Sanni is an assistant professor of epidemiology at the University of London and a senior researcher at the University of Oxford, working on pharmaco- and device-epidemiology and medical statistics.

He was previously an assistant professor at the University Medical Centre Utrecht, and holds a PhD in drug innovation and epidemiology from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. Before moving abroad he lectured at Addis Ababa University and at Haramaya University.

He founded VIBRANIUM RESOURCES to bring that experience back — initiating methodological articles and pre-conference courses for professional societies such as the Ethiopian Medical Journal and the Ethiopian Medical Association, and leading the firm's research, consulting and training work.
